Church Office Hours: Tuesday and Thursday from 9 to noon, Friday from 9 to 1.

Times may vary, please call before you come..

On a typical Sunday, worshippers of all ages sit in our pews.  We have a Sunday School with 6-12 children registered.  Our teachers are dedicated and faithful.

Every service is audio recorded for use by anyone, but especially those who are shut-ins, and those who are unable to attend worship on a particular Sunday.  An up-to-date sound system is used, complete with a wireless microphone for the minister.  In addition, a state-of-the-art video system, with a large screen for parishioners and a smaller screen near the pulpit enables us to cut down on the use of hymnbooks and weekly bulletins. We endeavour to be as ‘green’ as possible.  The screen not only displays the words to hymns and prayers, but also allows us to place images of everything from a disaster in China to our Halloween party the night before.

Our choir has been re-energized with a top-notch leader who is bringing a more modern approach to anthems and special Sundays.  Contemporary Christian music is the best way to describe his offerings with some original selections!!!

Hawthorne United Church has a very visible community-friendly ministry.  We provide food twice a month to a community food bank, which has a difficult time keeping up with demands. Our congregation provides a yearly snowsuit and winter apparel exchange for the needy in the community.

We have a Pastoral Care Team, the members of who keep in touch with our own shut-ins, as well as visiting the nearby hospitals.

A women’s Friendship Club is very active as is an ‘unofficial’ Men’s Euchre Club.

We have an Events Committee, which is an ad hoc committee of enthusiastic members, who enjoy getting together and creating activities for our faith community and friends and neighbours.  Some of their activities in the past year have been garage sales, dinners, talent shows, pot-luck suppers, games nights, Halloween and Christmas parties.

For a small Church, Hawthorne stands very tall when it comes to lending a helping hand and being part of Hawthorne Meadows and surrounding areas.
